Pizza oven cost per pizza calculator
Work out what each pizza costs you in fuel — gas bottle or electric — including the preheat, and compare it with a takeaway.

How to use it
- 1Choose gas or electric. Gas is priced from a patio gas bottle; electric uses your unit rate.
- 2Enter how long you preheat for (15–20 minutes is typical) and how long one pizza takes — often 60–90 seconds in a gas oven.
- 3Set how many pizzas you cook in one session. This is what really moves the cost per pizza.

Almost all of the fuel goes on the preheat, so the more pizzas you cook in one session, the cheaper each one gets. Pick your fuel and enter your own figures.

Assumes a £32.00 13 kg gas bottle burned at 0.3 kg an hour, with a 20-minute preheat and 2 minutes per pizza. Fuel only — ingredients and the cost of the oven are not included. Prices correct as of 5 October 2026.
Fuel only
This is the fuel cost alone. It does not include the dough, sauce, cheese or toppings, and it does not spread the price of the oven itself over the pizzas you cook. Wood-fired ovens are not covered because a bag of kiln-dried hardwood varies far too much in price and burn rate to estimate honestly.
